Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, appear to be inching closer to a truce aimed at reuniting the fractured opposition party.

According to inside sources quoted by Sunday PUNCH, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde recently met with Wike in Lagos on behalf of other PDP governors, in what is described as a significant step toward healing the party’s lingering divisions since its loss in the 2023 elections.

The closed-door meeting reportedly focused on finding common ground in the protracted political standoff in Rivers State between Wike and the suspended Governor Sim Fubara.

Also on the table were discussions surrounding the South-South zonal leadership, the contentious position of the party’s National Secretary, and efforts to rebalance internal power dynamics.
