Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, led a delegation of prominent political figures on a courtesy visit to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence.
While the visit stirred speculation about possible political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, Atiku clarified that the visit was purely to celebrate the Sallah festivities with the former president and not connected to any discussions about a proposed coalition of opposition parties.
“This was simply a Sallah visit. It had nothing to do with politics or alliances,” Atiku stated, aiming to douse growing rumours of a political strategy meeting.
Among the delegation were former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal, both influential figures in Nigeria’s political landscape.
