The Federal Government has introduced a Contactless Passport Renewal System in Europe, allowing Nigerians to renew their passports online without visiting an embassy or consulate. The initiative is intended to simplify the process, reduce waiting times, and eliminate the hassle of travel.

Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the development in a statement reiterated that the system aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He also noted that the initiative was designed to ease the burden on Nigerians abroad and make passport renewal more efficient.

With this new system, eligible applicants can complete the renewal process remotely, significantly cutting down processing times. The move is expected to benefit thousands of Nigerians living in Europe who often face delays and logistical challenges when renewing their passports.

According to Tunji-Ojo, the initiative mirrors the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved public services. By removing the need for physical visits, the system will subsequently enhance accessibility and convenience for Nigerians overseas.
