The Oyo State government is taking viable steps that can improve agricultural productivity in the state

The latest in these efforts is the training of some 22,370 farmers on weather prediction, soil management, and other key factors affecting modern farming.

The initiative is meant to equip farmers with climate-smart techniques.

Chairman of The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Oyo State chapter, Adewumi Abass, who spoke at a climate prediction presentation event in Ibadan recently, commended the state government for prioritizing farmer education.

He implied that the training would help farmers make informed decisions on crop selection, animal rearing, and seasonal farming strategies.

“We are happy that the Governor Makinde-led government is organizing this kind of training for farmers. It empowers us with the knowledge of our environment, what to plant, and the best farming practices for each season,” Abass said.

With climate change increasingly affecting agriculture, such training is expected to boost food security, improve yields, and strengthen Oyo State’s agricultural sector.
