A devastating fire tore through a packed nightclub in North Macedonia, killing at least 51 people and injuring more than 118, officials confirmed.
The inferno erupted around 2:30 a.m. local time at the Pulse club in Kocani, a town about 100 km (60 miles) east of the capital, Skopje.
The venue was hosting a concert by DNK, a popular hip-hop duo, with an estimated 1,500 people in attendance when flames rapidly engulfed the building.
Footage shared on social media showed the nightclub’s roof consumed by fire as panicked concertgoers scrambled to escape.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski described the tragedy as a “difficult and very sad day,” mourning the loss of so many young lives.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze, as the country grapples with one of its deadliest disasters in recent history.
