Panic gripped the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos on Saturday morning after a four-storey building under construction collapsed, trapping several people beneath the debris.
The ill-fated structure, located on Oremeta Street, reportedly caved in around 8 a.m. and housed the well-known EqualRight Restaurant.
Eyewitness accounts confirmed that multiple individuals were caught under the rubble, with the extent of injuries or fatalities yet unknown.
“It was an uncompleted four-storey building. The collapse was sudden, and many people, including those at the restaurant, are still trapped,” one witness reported.
Emergency responders, including security agencies and officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), swiftly arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.
As of the time of filing this report, LASEMA has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
