The FUOYE Dazzlers Queens delivered a breathtaking performance to claim the inaugural Bet9ja Foundation U-20 Women’s Football Championship title, staging a 2-1 comeback victory against Ekiti Queens Feeders at the Ijero Township Stadium.
The fiercely contested final capped a month-long tournament that kicked off on March 14, showcasing the finest young female football talent in the state.
The match began with Ekiti Queens Feeders taking the lead through Olukayode Posi’s well-taken goal, sending their supporters into a frenzy. However, the Dazzlers Queens responded with resilience, as Ekwe Grace restored parity with a clinical equalizer.
The stage was set for the tournament’s top scorer, Adesina Bolanle, to etch her name into history. Bolanle’s stunning strike secured the winning goal, sparking wild celebrations among players and fans as the Dazzlers clinched the coveted trophy.
The electrifying final drew a distinguished crowd, including Dr. (Mrs.) Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, and Mr. Oluwaseyi Motunrayo, Vice Chairman of Phoenix Athletics Sports Limited. Representatives from Bet9ja Foundation, including Mr. Adewale Adeshina, Mr. Akinfolarin Akande, and Mr. Bayo Olanlege, a master agent of Bet9ja and former Ekiti State FA Chairman, were also present, applauding the talent and passion on display.
According to a statement from the tournament’s director of administration, Pelumi Abiara, the final was an interesting moment for women’s football in Ekiti, with the FUOYE Dazzlers Queens cementing their place as champions of the maiden tournament.
