Prosecutors have filed murder charges against Kai-Ji Adam Lo, the suspect accused of deliberately driving into a crowd at a Filipino street festival in Vancouver, Canada, killing 11 people.
Lo, a 30-year-old Vancouver resident with a history of mental health issues, appeared in court and remains in custody, authorities said.
The victims, ranging in age from 5 to 65, were attending the Lapu Lapu Festival in the Sunset on Fraser neighborhood on Saturday evening when the tragic incident occurred.
The British Columbia Prosecution Service has charged Lo with eight counts of second-degree murder, with further charges under consideration. Investigators have ruled out terrorism as the motive for the attack, focusing instead on Lo’s personal circumstances.
