Two-time governorship aspirant and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Oyo State, Akeem Agbaje, has declared that party members will strongly resist any attempt to impose a governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Monday, Agbaje blamed the party’s loss in the 2023 gubernatorial election on what he described as the “imposition” of a candidate by the party’s leadership, stressing that such a mistake must not be repeated.
“A united APC will resist the imposition of a governorship candidate on the party in this state,” Agbaje said.
He warned that unless the APC prioritises internal democracy and allows a transparent primary process, its chances of reclaiming Oyo State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could be jeopardized once again.
