Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has ruled out any ambition of returning to the Aso Rock Villa, instead pledging her support for First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former First Lady made her stance clear during an award ceremony in Abuja on Saturday night, where she received the Women Icon Leader of the Year award from Accolade Dynamics Limited.
Known for her outspoken nature, Patience Jonathan emphasised the need for rotational leadership in Nigeria, describing the “turn-by-turn” model as vital for fostering national unity and inclusion.
In her remarks, she expressed full support for Senator Remi Tinubu’s ongoing efforts and promised to work alongside her in rallying support from Nigerian women in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
While recognising key women figures in attendance, she gave a special mention to Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the President’s daughter and Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, thanking her for her advocacy and support for women.
