Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has rejected claims that he is fueling internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), maintaining that his actions are geared towards strengthening the opposition party.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Wike addressed mounting criticism over his perceived role in the PDP’s leadership turmoil and the wave of defections rocking the party.

Dismissing the allegations, the former Rivers governor said, “I’m not tearing the party apart — I’m building it.”

Wike attributed the uncertainty within the PDP to unresolved questions surrounding the National Secretary position, which, according to the party’s constitution, is essential for validating communications with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He argued that some party members are defecting out of fear and legal ambiguity, not because of internal sabotage. “Their fear is, ‘I don’t know who will sign our documents,’” Wike said, adding that the confusion is jeopardizing the party’s electoral integrity.
