Nigeria’s U-20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, have booked their place in the semifinals of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and secured qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup after a tense penalty shootout victory over Senegal.

The highly competitive quarter-final clash ended in a goalless stalemate after 120 minutes of football, with both teams unable to break the deadlock during regulation and extra time.

In the ensuing penalty shootout, Nigeria held their nerve, converting three of their spot-kicks while goalkeeper Nathaniel Nwosu made crucial saves to give the Flying Eagles a 3–1 win.

The result not only sends Nigeria into the final four of the continental tournament but also confirms their place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, adding another chapter to the team’s rich history in youth football.
