The Ogun State Government has announced plans to highlight its rich cultural heritage and tourism potential during the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, holding in Abeokuta.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Mr. Dare Odufowokan, said the festival goes beyond athletics, serving as a platform to project the state’s identity to a wider national audience.
“This festival is not just about sports; it’s about celebrating our culture, promoting unity, and boosting tourism,” Odufowokan said.
He explained that the state would use the festival to showcase its art, music, cuisine, and historic landmarks, as part of efforts to position Ogun as a cultural and tourist destination.
The Gateway Games is currently hosting thousands of athletes and officials from across the country.
