The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the fatal shooting of a secondary school student in Oyo State by a police officer.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NANS Public Relations Officer, Samson Ajasa, described the incident as a senseless and reckless act that violates the sanctity of human life and reflects a gross abuse of power by those charged with protecting citizens.

“On behalf of Nigerian students, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family,” Ajasa said. “We mourn with you and share in your pain during this period of immense sorrow. No family should have to endure such a tragic loss.”

NANS is calling for an immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into the incident, insisting that justice must be served without bias.

Ajasa asked that the police officer responsible for the “heinous act” must be apprehended promptly and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
