Six people were injured on Sunday when a man hurled incendiary devices into a peaceful gathering held in support of Israeli hostages still detained in Gaza.

Authorities have labelled the incident a suspected hate crime and a targeted act of terror.

The attack occurred in Boulder, where demonstrators, mostly elderly individuals had assembled to remember the Israeli hostages. According to the FBI, the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Mohamed Soliman, shouted “Free Palestine” before launching Molotov-style devices into the crowd.

FBI Special Agent in Charge, Mark Michalek, confirmed that the victims ranged in age from 67 to 88 years and were all transported to local hospitals for treatment. Soliman himself was reportedly injured and remains hospitalized. Efforts by Reuters to contact him or his family were unsuccessful.

FBI Director Kash Patel condemned the attack as a “targeted terror attack,” while Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser added that the evidence strongly suggests it was a hate crime, citing the specific group that was attacked.
