In a bid to enhance road safety and reduce traffic violations, the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced a revised schedule of fines for various traffic offences across the state.

The Chairman of OYRTMA, Adekoya Adesagba, made the announcement during a meeting with zonal commanders at the agency’s secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, on Monday.

Adesagba clarified that the agency’s core mandate is not revenue generation but the protection of lives and property through improved traffic management.

Under the new penalty regime, driving an unlicensed motorcycle or tricycle now attracts a fine of N25,000. Commercial operators who fail to paint their vehicles in the government-approved colours will pay N20,000 for a first offence and N30,000 for subsequent violations.

“These adjustments are designed to deter reckless behavior and encourage compliance with traffic regulations,” Adesagba said.
