Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called on President Bola Tinubu to sack several ministers and security chiefs in his administration, saying their performance has failed to improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Kalu, who represents Abia North and is a former governor of Abia State, said lower-income Nigerians were still suffering despite the president’s reforms.
“Nigerians in the lower area are still suffering. They have not started having the benefit of the changes President Bola Tinubu has made. The changes are trickling down, and it’s going to take another one, two years,” he said.
Kalu blamed persistent security challenges for the continued hardship, stressing that farmers across the country were unable to cultivate their lands due to insurgency and armed conflicts.
He called for decisive action from the president to revamp his team.
“Some people working with the President should be relieved of their duties — both in the security sector and among the ministers. Some of them should go,” Kalu said. “President must be courageous enough to sack some of these ministers.”
He added that if he were to advise the president directly, he would recommend sweeping changes: “Most of these ministers, most of them should go – that is the truth. Some of the security chiefs will also go. There’s no sentiment about redeeming Nigeria. If we really want to redeem, we must act.”
