The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a fresh weather forecast, warning of widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across several parts of the country from Sunday through Tuesday.
In a statement released in Abuja, NiMet revealed that northern states, including Taraba and Adamawa, should expect morning thunderstorms on Sunday, with moderate rainfall. The intensity is expected to build later in the day, as thunderstorms with rain are likely to sweep across Taraba, Adamawa, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Bauchi.
For the North-Central region, the agency forecasted a generally cloudy Sunday morning, followed by rain showers and thunderstorms later in the afternoon and evening. Affected areas include the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau states.
NiMet therefore advised residents in these areas to take precautionary measures against strong winds, flash floods, and disruptions to travel and daily activities.
