The Government of Tanzania has honoured the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, by naming the 112.3-kilometre Dodoma Outer Ring Road after him.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan made the announcement on the weekend during an inspection tour of the road project in Dodoma, the nation’s capital.

The road, which is one of the country’s major infrastructure developments, was largely funded by the African Development Bank under Adesina’s leadership.

In a statement made available to PUNCH Online, the event was attended by Dr. Adesina and his wife, alongside former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, government officials, and members of the local community.

Addressing a jubilant crowd, President Samia praised Adesina’s contributions to Tanzania’s growth, describing his tenure as AfDB President as “transformative.”
