United States President Donald Trump is expected to meet with his national security team at the White House on Monday afternoon, as tensions with Iran escalate following a series of U.S. strikes on key nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic.

According to U.S. media reports, the high-level meeting will take place in the Oval Office, with top military and intelligence officials set to brief the president on the extent of the damage inflicted during the weekend bombardments and to chart possible next steps.

The developments come on the heels of growing international concern over the possibility of a wider conflict in the Middle East, after Washington targeted several Iranian nuclear and military sites recently.

However, un a stern warning issued earlier on Monday, President Trump said Iran risked “complete regime change” if it continued on its current path, further escalating rhetoric between the two longtime adversaries.
