Following the sudden resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bukar Dalori, has officially assumed duties as the acting National Chairman of the ruling party.

In line with Section 14(2)(iii) of the APC Constitution, which empowers the Deputy National Chairman from the same zone to act in the chairman’s absence, Dalori’s takeover was expected but still sent ripples through the APC national secretariat, where Ganduje’s personal belongings were seen being quietly removed.

Conversations within the party have turned toward who will succeed Ganduje. Emerging as a front-runner is former Nasarawa State Governor and respected party stalwart, Senator Tanko Al-Makura.

“Al-Makura is top of that list, as far as I know,” a party insider told journalists on Friday. His name reportedly commands broad support within key power blocs of the party.
