The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to students and the general public about a fake website and misleading messages currently circulating online, falsely claiming the reopening of the student loan application portal.
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, described the message as fraudulent and cautioned the public to disregard it.
“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal,” the statement read.
She pointed out that the message includes a link to a fake website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/ (https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/)
“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading,” Oluwatuyi said.
The fund urged students to rely only on official communication channels and websites for accurate information about loan applications, and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
