The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as its National Secretary during its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Sources at the party’s national headquarters revealed that the decision to reinstate Anyanwu was unanimous, but came with specific conditions. He was required to withdraw all pending legal suits against the party and pledge not to obstruct the forthcoming National Elective Convention scheduled for August.

According to insiders familiar with the outcome of the high-level meeting, the agreement to bring back Anyanwu had the backing of PDP governors, members of the National Assembly, and the Board of Trustees. The terms also included a warning against any victimisation of party staff and a commitment to work in harmony with members of the National Working Committee.

Following the meeting held on Monday in Abuja, the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, confirmed the development while addressing journalists.

“Yes, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been reinstated as National Secretary,” Damagum said. He also announced that the 101st NEC meeting would hold on July 23 to conclude preparations for the PDP’s much-anticipated national convention.
