The Federal Government has reassured citizens and international visitors of their safety in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, following a security advisory issued by the United States Mission in Nigeria.
Recall that on Monday, the U.S. Mission warned its citizens to avoid all Nigerian military and government facilities in Abuja due to what it described as “increased security concerns arising from current global developments.” The advisory also restricted non-official travel for U.S. Embassy employees and their families to such locations.
However, in a swift response, the Nigerian Government dismissed fears of insecurity in the capital, stating that Abuja remains safe and secure for residents, tourists, and diplomatic communities.
Authorities noted that security agencies are on high alert and working proactively to maintain peace and stability across the country, particularly in the capital city.
They urged the public to remain calm and go about their daily activities without fear, assuring that precautionary measures have been intensified.
