The Adamimogo Communications family is in mourning following the passing of Mr. Layi Oyawa, the General Manager of Adamimogo 107.7FM, Ido-Ekiti, who died peacefully on Monday night.
Mr. Oyawa, a revered veteran broadcaster and newsroom leader, spent decades shaping Ekiti’s media landscape. From his long-standing service at the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), where he played a pivotal role in both Ekiti FM 91.5 and EKTV, to his position as the pioneer Head of Station at Our Peoples 104.1FM, Ado-Ekiti, Oyawa’s voice became a trusted companion to many across the state.
In April 2024, he was appointed the first General Manager of Adamimogo FM, Ido-Ekiti. In less than a year, he set a high bar for professionalism, community-focused journalism, and newsroom integrity—hallmarks of his legacy.
A statement signed by Babatunde Bamigboye Omo-Edema, Chief Operating Officer of Adamimogo Communications, described Oyawa as “a statesman of the microphone” whose contributions left a lasting mark on colleagues, listeners, and the broader Ekiti broadcast community.
“He will be fondly remembered for his deep voice, integrity, calm leadership, and the wealth of experience he poured into every media outlet he led,” the statement read.
Mr. Oyawa’s passing is not only a blow to Adamimogo FM but a loss shared across Nigeria’s broadcasting sphere.
The board and staff of Adamimogo Communications extend heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, friends, and all those who had the honour of working alongside him.
