The Provost of Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology (COHESTI), Ijero-Ekiti, Dr. (Mrs.) Olajumoke Adebayo, has reaffirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for cultism, gangsterism, gender-based violence, and other social vices.
Speaking at the institution’s 14th matriculation ceremony, Dr. Adebayo emphasized that the event was not just a formal academic tradition but an essential process of inducting new students into the college community. She assured the matriculants that all programs offered at COHESTI are duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and other regulatory bodies. She further expressed optimism that the college would soon be upgraded to a polytechnic, expanding its offerings to include Engineering, Technology, and Management-related courses.
Dr. Adebayo also revealed that the first set of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates in Health Information Management would be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) this year. She noted that efforts were underway to extend similar opportunities to students in other disciplines.
Expressing her deep appreciation for the unwavering support from Ekiti State Governor, His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, Dr. Adebayo acknowledged his numerous contributions to the growth and development of COHESTI. She also commended the institution’s Governing Council Chairman, Dr. Femi Thomas, and other council members for their dedication to the institution’s progress.
She highlighted that the recent accreditation of Public Health, Environmental Health, and Health Information Management degree programs by the National Universities Commission (NUC) was made possible through the invaluable support of various stakeholders, particularly Kwara State University.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Mr. Olukayode Dada, lauded COHESTI’s management for maintaining high academic standards. He urged the newly admitted students to remain diligent and focused in their studies to achieve academic excellence.
A key moment of the ceremony was the formal oath-taking by the matriculants, administered by the College Registrar, Mrs. Caroline Ogunsakin. She commended the students for their discipline and orderly conduct during the event.
The well-attended matriculation ceremony drew the presence of principal officers, JAMB officials, deans, directors, heads of departments, parents, and well-wishers, all of whom celebrated the institution’s continued strides in academic excellence and institutional development.
