Legal luminary and founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola, has thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
In an exclusive interview with Adamimogo 105.1 FM, Babalola urged Nigerians to consider the President’s position before criticizing the decision. According to him, the declaration was the most effective option to restore peace and stability in the oil-rich state.
“The declaration was, at best, the only option to restore peace in Rivers,” Babalola said, defending the President’s actions as a necessary step to curb rising tensions.
Offering his legal expertise if any constitutional challenges arise, Babalola expressed confidence that the decision would stabilize the state in a short period.
He further stressed the importance of national unity and maintaining order, especially in regions vital to Nigeria’s economic stability.
