The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has announced a three-day fasting and prayer programme, seeking divine intervention to address the country’s deepening food crisis.
According to an internal circular dated June 11 and obtained by TheCable, the ministry is calling on all staff members to participate in the spiritual exercise, which is aimed at invoking God’s guidance over Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
“This is to invite all staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to a solemn prayer session for God’s guidance and success in supporting the government’s efforts to achieve food security,” the circular, signed by Adedayo Modupe, Director of Human Resource Management, stated.
Nigeria has faced worsening food insecurity in recent years, driven by factors including inflation, insecurity in farming communities, climate change, and disrupted supply chains.
