Wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has dismissed allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, calling them outright falsehoods.
In an interview on Friday, Ekaette Akpabio described her husband as a “disciplined and responsible” man who would never disrespect her or their children.
Recall that Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier claimed that her troubles in the Senate began after she rejected alleged advances from Akpabio. According to her, the incident took place in December 2023 when she and her husband visited the Senate President’s residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for his birthday celebration. She alleged that Akpabio’s actions were the catalyst for the political challenges she has faced since then.
However, Ekaette Akpabio dismissed these claims, insisting that her husband was incapable of such behavior. She pointed out that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s husband, whom she described as a family friend, would have been aware of any inappropriate interaction if it had occurred.
She further noted that Akpabio’s residences are never empty, with security operatives and staff always present, making such allegations implausible. “There is no way something like this would happen unnoticed,” she stated, reinforcing her husband’s defense.
