Former Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai has expressed disappointment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party no longer aligns with its founding principles.

Speaking at a national conference on strengthening democracy in Abuja, El-Rufai criticized the APC’s leadership, describing it as ineffective and disconnected from the ideals on which the party was built.

El-Rufai lamented the lack of regular meetings by the party’s organs, accusing the APC of being run like a “one-man show.” He said, “I no longer recognize the APC. No caucus or NEC meeting has been held in two years. Though I am a founding member, the party has left me behind. We formed the APC to fight corruption, revamp the economy, and restore security, but those goals seem forgotten.”

The former governor highlighted the persistent challenges in Nigeria, including economic hardship, insecurity, and corruption, and questioned the APC’s commitment to addressing these issues.

He also criticized the prevalence of unqualified leaders, which he believes has contributed to the country’s leadership struggles.
