Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to alleged anti-party activities.

Governor Mohammed accused Wike of aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged him to make his defection official, claiming that the minister’s actions no longer serve the PDP’s interests.

The governor described Wike’s attempts to tarnish his reputation as desperate and unconvincing, stating that Nigerians are aware of the minister’s alleged ulterior motives.

This development follows Mohammed’s earlier remarks labeling Wike a “transactional politician” whose loyalty is dictated by personal ambitions.

In response, Wike, through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, accused Mohammed of incompetence, alleging that the Bauchi governor was using Wike’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu as a scapegoat for his own failure to provide leadership as chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

However, Olayinka dismissed Mohammed’s criticism, labeling him a “greedy politician” who should focus on his responsibilities.

In a counterstatement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed condemned Wike’s remarks as reckless and deceptive. He accused the FCT minister of a history of betrayal, citing figures such as Senator John Azuta Mbata, Dr. Peter Odili, and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as past victims of Wike’s alleged treachery.
