Super star American Singer, Beyoncé has had her album, Cowboy Carter named Best Country Album at the 67th Grammy Awards. The award was presented by Taylor Swift, another artist who has successfully crossed genres, and Beyoncé’s key rival for the night’s top honor, Album of the Year.
“Wow, I really was not expecting this,” Beyoncé said as she accepted the award, thanking “all of the incredible country artists” who supported her.
The win comes just months after she was snubbed at the Country Music Awards, despite becoming the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with Texas Hold ’Em.
Beyoncé entered the Grammys with 11 nominations, the most of any artist this year. With this latest victory, she extends her record as the most awarded artist in Grammy history, now holding an astounding 32 trophies.
