A harrowing two-part investigative report by The PUNCH Newspaper has galvanized Nigerian authorities into urgent action against a child pornography ring operating on X (formerly Twitter).

The investigation exposed how underage Nigerian boys were allegedly lured, groomed, and sexually exploited for profit—an online criminal network that has shocked many and renewed calls for tougher internet safety regulations.

In swift response, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a full-scale investigation and declared a coordinated manhunt for the perpetrators behind the now-suspended X account.

Mr. Titus Ngamariju, Head of NAPTIP’s Cybercrime Response Team, confirmed to Sunday PUNCH that the agency is already tracking the individuals responsible for the account used to circulate explicit images of minors.

“It’s too late for whoever is behind that account,” Ngamariju said. “We have launched an investigation, and the Director-General herself is personally interested in the case. He must be caught and brought to book.”
