The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in celebration of Workers’ Day.

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released Tuesday in Abuja and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended Nigerian workers for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices, which he said have contributed significantly to national development and the respect Nigeria commands on the global stage. He stressed that the dignity of labour must be upheld and celebrated.

The minister also harped on the importance of peace as a catalyst for industrialization and economic growth, encouraging workers across the country to embrace innovation and boost productivity in their various sectors.
