Former head of the Rivers State Civil Service, George Nwaeke has accused the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of large-scale misappropriation of public funds.
Speaking at a press briefing over the weekend, Nwaeke described the alleged financial misconduct under the suspended governor as “mind-boggling” and unprecedented in the state’s history.
Nwaeke, who recently resigned from his position, stated that he possesses evidence of the alleged corruption and is prepared to present it to security agencies when summoned.
“I cannot disclose all my evidence to the media, as some are sensitive,” he said. “However, I will provide full details to the appropriate authorities when required.”
He further claimed that the scale of financial mismanagement in the last two years was alarming, especially given that Rivers State received its highest-ever federal allocation during this period.
The accusations come on the heels of ongoing political turmoil in the state, raising concerns over governance and financial accountability.
