The Governing Council of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has cleared the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, of sexual harassment allegations made by a senior lecturer, Mrs Folasade Adebayo.
This development was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the university’s Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mr Mufutau Ibrahim, following the conclusion of an internal investigation.
According to the statement, the council found no merit in the claims and has directed Adebayo to tender a formal letter of apology within seven days.
The matter began in February when Adebayo accused the Vice Chancellor of misconduct, prompting the university to establish a special committee to investigate the claims.
The case drew wider attention after the local chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) persistently called for a thorough probe.
