A former presidential media aide Laolu Akande has criticized President Donald Trump’s executive order to ban birthright citizenship, maintaining that it will have a detrimental impact on the country.

Recall that, the move was part of the litany of executive orders signed by Trump as he was inaugurated president earlier this week.

In a televised interview today, Laolu expressed that his worry isn’t about the president’s agenda to make America great again, but rather the consequences of Trump’s political approach.

“What I have a problem with is the implications of his style of politics, and the language of his politics. For instance, he wants to ban the citizenship rights of people who are born in America.”

Laolu added that the policy would have a significant impact on Nigerians, many of whom are already affected by it.

“Now that’s an overreach. You could say that that doesn’t affect Nigeria but it does affect Nigeria because you know there are a lot of Nigerians who are caught in that web.”
