The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has issued a stern warning to land grabbers, expansionists, and other trespassers to vacate forcefully acquired lands in Ibadan immediately — or face dire consequences.
Speaking through the Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, at an emergency meeting held at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, the monarch addressed the growing tensions over boundary disputes between Ibadan in Oyo State and Iwo in Osun State. The meeting, attended by Obas, Mogajis, and Baales from affected areas, sought to curb escalating conflicts.
Oba Olakulehin reaffirmed that the Oba River has historically served as the natural boundary between the two ancient cities and must continue to be respected as such.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Gbenga Ayoade, the Olubadan called for peace and order, warning that Ibadan would no longer tolerate unlawful encroachments on its ancestral lands.
“The Oba River remains our recognized boundary from time immemorial,” the monarch emphasized, signaling a firm stance against further land disputes.
