McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, celebrated the graduation of 281 students at its combined 8th and 9th convocation ceremony, with the institution’s visitor and General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, urging graduands to embrace innovation in today’s fast-evolving world.

Speaking at the event held in the university’s auditorium, Rev. Aboyeji charged the graduates to uphold McPherson’s legacy of excellence and make meaningful contributions to society. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing quality education, emphasizing that its foundation is rooted in both academic discipline and moral integrity.

Among the graduates, 24 earned First Class honors, 116 bagged Second Class Upper, 65 obtained Second Class Lower, and 13 finished with Third Class degrees.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, congratulated the graduating students and highlighted the university’s strides in academic and infrastructural development. He commended the dedication of both staff and students, noting that McPherson University remains a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s private education sector.

Delivering the convocation lecture titled A Nation in Transition: Managing the Yearnings of its Restless Youths, Ekiti State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, called on governments at all levels to prioritize accountability to address the concerns of young Nigerians. The event also saw dignitaries, including representatives of the Ogun State government and university leadership, extolling McPherson’s achievements over its 13-year journey.

In their remarks, best graduating students Praise Esther Adeyemi (2022/23 session) and Shobowale Adeola Elizabeth (2023/24 session) expressed joy at their accomplishments and pledged to be worthy ambassadors of the institution.

The ceremony also featured prize presentations to outstanding students across various disciplines, further celebrating academic excellence at McPherson University.
