As Muslims worldwide begin the holy month of Ramadan, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured citizens of improved electricity supply throughout the fasting period.

In a message to the Muslim community, Adelabu acknowledged the nation’s ongoing power challenges but emphasized that his ministry is working tirelessly to ensure stability, especially during this sacred month.

The Punch noted that energy consumption typically rises during Suhoor (pre-dawn meals), Iftar (post-sunset meals), and Taraweeh (nightly prayers), making steady electricity supply crucial for many households and places of worship.

“As the Minister of Power, I am acutely aware of the challenges that many Nigerians face, particularly in the area of electricity supply,” he stated. “I understand that the observance of Ramadan often requires increased energy consumption, and we are committed to ensuring a more stable power supply during this period and beyond.”

While Nigerians remain hopeful for an uninterrupted power supply, many will be watching closely to see if the government’s pledge translates into real improvement.
