Muslim faithful in Ibadan joined millions around the world today to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Worshippers gathered in large numbers at various Eid prayer grounds across the city to offer prayers of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah for granting them the strength to complete the 30-day fast.
At the Central Eid Prayer Ground, Agodi Gate, this year’s celebration was particularly memorable with the appearance of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja. The former governor, representing the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, attended the prayers for the first time in years, having distanced himself due to a past political dispute. His presence generated excitement among worshippers, marking a significant moment in the celebration.
Speaking with Adamimogo 105.1FM, Chief Imams, including Alhaji Salaudeen Ajisope of Premier Hotel Central Mosque, expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to witness another Eid-el-Fitr.
They urged Muslims to maintain the spiritual discipline they cultivated during Ramadan and remain steadfast in their faith.
Worshippers also shared personal reflections on the fasting period. Among them was 79-year-old Alhaja Owodele, who spoke on the motivation to fast despite her age, affirming that devotion to Allah knows no bounds. Likewise, others echoed the call for Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan beyond the holy month, urging them to stay righteous and committed to their faith.
As the 2025 Ramadan season comes to an end, the lessons of devotion, patience, and self-discipline remain. The Quran reiterates uprightness as a core principle, urging believers to remain steadfast, follow the true path, and abstain from wrongdoing.
Happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations!
