U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to impose a travel ban on 43 countries, an internal memo has revealed.
According to a report by Reuters on Saturday, the document outlines plans to categorize countries into three groups—red, orange, and yellow—based on perceived security risks and immigration concerns.
While the memo has yet to receive final approval from the administration, it notably includes several African nations.
However, major economic powerhouses such as Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, and Egypt are not among those affected.
The proposed red group consists of 11 nations—Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Cuba, Bhutan, Venezuela, North Korea, Yemen, and Somalia—whose citizens would face a complete ban from entering the U.S.
The orange group includes Russia, Belarus, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Pakistan, Laos, Turkmenistan, Haiti, and Eritrea. While not completely barred, nationals from these countries would face stringent visa restrictions.
The details of the yellow group remain unclear, but officials familiar with the matter suggest it may include countries facing less severe, yet significant, travel limitations.
