The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for physically assaulting a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.

In a letter dated February 13, 2025, and signed by Acting Registrar Victor I. Modebelu, the university stated that the decision was based on the recommendation of the Student Disciplinary Committee. Precious was found guilty of violating the institution’s disciplinary regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).

The incident, which gained public attention after a viral video, showed Precious attacking Dr. Chukwudi Okoye after he reportedly interrupted a TikTok video she was recording on campus. The altercation sparked widespread outrage and calls for disciplinary action.

Following the expulsion, the university ordered Precious to vacate the school premises immediately and return any university property in her possession. The decision underscores the institution’s commitment to maintaining discipline and respect for academic staff.

This development serves as a warning to other students regarding misconduct, with the university reaffirming its stance on upholding academic integrity and proper conduct within its environment.
