Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has vowed that no local government in the state will be allowed to fall into the hands of insurgents, despite growing security concerns in northern Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists on Monday after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Zulum said the visit was to brief the president on the security situation in Borno and other parts of the region.
“Things are not getting very well in northern Nigeria, particularly in the North-East,” the governor said, acknowledging the resurgence of attacks in some areas.
However, Zulum assured that the state government, in collaboration with federal security agencies, is stepping up efforts to prevent a reversal of the gains made in the fight against Boko Haram and other armed groups.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining control over all 27 local government areas in Borno and ensuring the safety of displaced persons returning to their communities.
