Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has challenged veteran journalist and Arise TV anchor, Dr. Reuben Abati, to a physical fight, condemning what he described as “disrespectful and mischievous” comments made on live television.

The fiery response came during Oshiomhole’s appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, where he reacted to a recent episode of The Morning Show on Arise TV.

In the episode, Abati had posed a question to former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, asking whether he sought Oshiomhole’s permission before defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I was particularly shocked that a senior editor could ask the immediate past governor of Delta State, Okowa, mischievously, I must say—with all due respect—‘Did you get permission from Oshiomhole that your sins will now be forgiven before you decided to decamp to APC?’” the senator recounted.

Oshiomhole, a former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and ex-governor of Edo State, described the remark as absurd and insulting, adding that Abati’s question suggested he wielded godlike powers within the APC.

“If Reuben Abati is man enough, let him meet me somewhere and we will test who is more of a man,” Oshiomhole declared, visibly incensed by the insinuation.
