An online video showing female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) being subjected to intimate checks for bras before entering an examination hall has triggered widespread outrage across social media platforms and within the university community.
In the now widely circulated footage, female students were seen being screened by security personnel allegedly checking whether they were wearing bras — a practice that has raised serious concerns about harassment, student rights, and university policy enforcement.
According to a student who spoke to journalists under condition of anonymity, the controversial checks typically occur during examination periods. “What happened is because we are having exams. They don’t do this every time. They will check you if you are wearing a bra. It has happened to me once, even though I felt embarrassed. That is OOU and their nonsense,” she said.
Another student, who also asked to remain unnamed, condemned the action of the security personnel, describing the routine as an unnecessary invasion of privacy. “This is not about discipline or security. It is a clear overreach. We came here to study, not to be policed like criminals,” she said.
The incident, which many students claim is not new but only recently came to public attention due to the viral video, has ignited a wave of criticism online.
