The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting agricultural exporters, pledging to stand by farmers who continue to drive food production and economic resilience, despite mounting global trade challenges.

This assurance came from the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, during a meeting with representatives of the Agricultural Exporting Farmers Multipurpose Cooperatives Society and Credit Investments (CICS) Ltd at his office in Ibadan.

Oyelade praised the association for its tenacity in the face of rising operational costs, particularly in light of the recent tariff hike imposed by the United States government—a move that has placed added strain on countries like Nigeria, whose economies are already under pressure.

“These are difficult times, and your ability to keep pushing forward with agricultural exports despite international setbacks is not only admirable but vital for our state’s food security and economic progress,” Oyelade said.

He also noted that the US tariff increase has created a fresh layer of difficulty for Nigerian exporters, many of whom already contend with poor infrastructure, inflation, and limited access to financing.
