Victims of Tuesday’s fire incident at Alesinloye market, Ibadan, have clarified that about 90 people, and not 500 as reported in a section of the media, were affected by the incident.
This comes as the Oyo state government directed the victims to cooperate with the Oyo state emergency management agency for a full enumeration and verification of the victims.
Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Bayo Lawal, gave the directive in a statement issued by the special adviser on media to Oyo state governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju,
According to Lawal the government could only rely on the figures from the victims because they know one another.
He also reiterated that the state government would support the victims adding that bulldozers had already been deployed to the site to clear the rubble and ensure that the place was put in order.
