The Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socio-Economic Development has unveiled plans to begin a sensitisation campaign against indiscriminate waste disposal across major markets in the state.
The agency’s Director-General, Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, made the announcement on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ibadan South-West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Akande, at his office in Ibadan.
Thomas noted that the campaign aims to promote responsible waste management habits and foster a cleaner, healthier environment.
He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining urban hygiene, especially in busy commercial areas.
He said, “Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has made significant efforts to create a conducive environment for residents by enhancing infrastructure and driving socio-economic development. To sustain this, we must complement it with behavioural change at the grassroots level.”
The campaign will involve market leaders, environmental officers, and community stakeholders in driving home the message of sustainable waste practices.
