The Oyo state government has inaugurated a committee to oversee the coronation of Oba Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo, marking a significant step in the preparations for the historic event.
The commissioner for information and orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the inauguration, stressing that Governor Seyi Makinde’s expectation is for all involved to be diligent and fully committed to ensuring a successful ceremony.
The committee, which has already held its inaugural meeting, is being led by the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, Ademola Ojo.
The meeting focused on outlining the necessary steps to ensure the coronation aligns with the deep-rooted customs and traditions of the Oyo people.
